The Mercedes-Benz AMG Hammer was one of the fastest sports sedans of its time. Released back in 1986, it didn’t have much competition back then. Given that the Ferraris and the Porches had their two-door supercars, Mercedes decided to create this luxurious 4-door beast. The AMG Hammer draws power from its 392-horsepower V8 that is capable of getting from zero to 60 in five seconds, with a top speed of 178 miles per hour. Not only was it worth every penny of investment money, it also held to Mercedes-Benz’s standard of luxury. Indeed, the ride in this vehicle was as comfortable as any other luxury car. This is in great contrast to many two-door supercars such as Porsche 911 or the Testarossa, where driver comfort often came second to car performance.
