Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen

Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Fuller Olsen, also known as the Olsen twins, are American fashion designers and former actresses. Mary-Kate Olsen began her acting career nine months after giving birth, sharing the role of Michelle Tanner with her twin sister Ashley Olsen on the television sitcom Full House. They also acted in many films together.

Then as now, there are strict rules regarding the working time of a child actor in television production. To circumvent these limitations, some shows cast twins for a single character. Swapping out the Olsen twins for more scenes effectively doubled the amount of footage that could be done with the character. Although Full House is their claim to fame, the Olsen sisters have since become involved in a variety of highly profitable business ventures.
