Laverne Cox and M. Lamar
Lamar is the identical twin of actress Laverne Cox and played the character of her pre-transitional sister in two episodes of the Netflix show Orange Is the New Black. She played a transgender inmate on the show. Not only did she earn Emmy nominations, but she also made history as the first transgender actress to be nominated.
Cox is grateful to have a strong bond with her identical twin brother during her transition. Lamar works as a musician and creates Gothic-inspired performance art. His career has taken him to places like the African American Art & Culture Complex in San Francisco and the Wellcome Collection in London.
